Memorial Healthcare in Owosso names home health nurse Darren Rumery
The Owosso health system honored Darren Rumery, a registered nurse with its Home Health service, as its August 2026 employee of the month.
Memorial Healthcare has named Darren Rumery, a registered nurse with Memorial Healthcare Home Health, its August 2026 employee of the month. The Owosso health system announced the award Monday on its newsroom page.
Rumery has worked for Memorial Healthcare since November 2024, according to the announcement. Home health nurses work in patients' houses rather than on the hospital campus at 826 W. King St., and the nomination that won him the award leaned on that.
"Darren is always a joy to work with. He has been described as having great communication skills, being friendly, and always having a smile," the nomination said. "Being out in the field, you often have to wear many hats. When there is an emergency, you have to act alone. Darren is steady, calm, and reliable under pressure."
The award is a monthly recognition at the county's hospital and health system, and the Current has reported several of them this year: hospice nurse Sheila Austin for April, diabetes and endocrinology medical assistant Heather Lokinski for May, public safety associate Darlene Dameron for June, and Jessica Sargent, a medical assistant at the Institute for Neuroscience in Howell, for July.
The announcement does not say who submitted the nomination, how many coworkers backed it, or what the recognition includes.
