Owosso Speedway to host free Memorial Healthcare skin screenings Aug. 26
Memorial Healthcare's mobile health unit will offer free skin cancer screenings at the speedway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with advance registration required.
Memorial Healthcare is partnering with Owosso Speedway to offer free skin cancer screenings to the public on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Owosso hospital announced in a July 16 notice.
The screenings will take place at Owosso Speedway ahead of the Michigan 300 ASA STARS National Series race, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. that day.
Memorial Healthcare said its dermatology team will provide the screenings aboard the organization's mobile health unit, describing the event as part of its commitment to accessible, community-based care. The hospital said the event is designed to encourage early detection and raise awareness about routine skin cancer screenings.
According to the announcement, early detection is one of the most effective tools in the fight against skin cancer. Memorial Healthcare said that during previous community screening events, health care professionals have identified potentially concerning lesions, allowing individuals to seek timely follow-up care and treatment.
