Ghoul's Night Out in Owosso, 7 county football games Friday
Downtown Owosso turns Halloween on Friday evening, the Children's Library runs two craft mornings, and all seven county football teams play Friday night — though nobody has given us kickoff times.
The weekend in Shiawassee County starts downtown. Ghoul's Night Out begins at 5 p.m. Friday in downtown Owosso, and all seven of the county's football teams play that night.
Friday is also a busy morning at the Children's Library @ Owosso Public Library. "Let's Paint Pumpkin Rocks" runs at 9 a.m., and Storytime with Miss Natalie follows at 10:30 a.m. The craft programs continue Saturday with "Let's Make Haunted Houses" at 10 a.m.
Two senior-center presentations fill Friday afternoon, and both are the kind of thing worth passing along to a parent. An Oasis Senior Advisor presentation is set for 2:30 p.m. at the SCOA Owosso Center, and a Respite Volunteers presentation is set for 4:30 p.m. at the SCOA Morrice Center.
Saturday
The Downtown Owosso Farmers Market opens at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Owosso Farmers Market site. The Will Run for Coffee 5k also starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Fitness Coliseum: FC, The Studio & Back Room CrossFit in Owosso. The calendar listing does not give an entry fee or say whether runners can register the morning of the race.
Sunday
Durand Memorial Library holds Play and Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Friday football
Seven county teams play Friday: Chesaning at Ovid-Elsie, Durand at Mt. Morris, International Academy of Flint at Perry, Byron at Memphis, Laingsburg at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, New Lothrop at LakeVille Memorial and Montabella at Morrice. Chesaning at Ovid-Elsie is the one matchup between two county schools. Perry and Morrice are the only county teams at home.
The verified schedules the desk works from still do not carry start times, and schools and athletic departments have not supplied them. The Current has had that request out since Oct. 8, and it has been the pattern all season. Two other threads from last weekend's listings remain open as well: organizers have not said whether Ghoul's Night Out has an admission cost or where downtown it is centered.
What happens next
Final scores go up at /scoreboard/ on game nights, and the desk is still chasing finals from earlier county football dates, including Byron's Aug. 28 opener. To get an event into next week's listing, send it to [email protected].
