Consumers Energy logs three more Owosso, Lennon outages this week

Consumers Energy posted three more outages on its public outage map this week affecting customers near Owosso and Lennon, according to the utility's outage alerts.

One alert listed about 16 customers near Owosso and gave the cause as planned work. A second alert listed about 29 customers near Owosso with the cause described as an "equipment issue detected." A third listed about 17 customers near Lennon, also attributed to an equipment issue. Together the three alerts covered roughly 62 customers.

The outage map records a cause, a status, an estimated time of restoration, the number of customers affected and the time an outage was first reported. For the two equipment-related outages, the utility's posting went no further than "equipment issue detected." The map did not identify which piece of equipment failed, on which circuit, or whether the failures were related.

The alerts land within days of two other Consumers Energy items in Shiawassee County that The Shiawassee Current has reported: overnight work at the Lennon substation that the utility said would interrupt power to about 1,350 customers, and the death of a Consumers Energy lineman after an electrocution in Henderson, in Rush Township.

Nothing in the outage map postings connects this week's Owosso and Lennon outages to either of those events. The utility has not published an explanation on the map for the pace of equipment-related outages in the county.
