Owosso school board to vote on bond authorization resolution Aug. 26
The Owosso Board of Education's Wednesday agenda pairs a bond authorization resolution with first looks at a tax levy, a Wilkinson Road property proposal and FFA travel.
The Owosso Public Schools Board of Education meets Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 5:30 p.m. in the Owosso Performing Arts Center, 765 East North St., according to the agenda posted by the district.
The main action item is a bond authorization resolution, listed on the agenda as Report 26-21 and beginning on page 27 of the board packet. The agenda does not describe the terms of the resolution.
The resolution appears alongside the consent agenda, which includes minutes from the July 22 regular meeting, the July 22 closed session and the Aug. 12 Committee of the Whole meeting, plus current bills and financials. Those items are numbered Reports 26-16 through 26-20.
Four items are listed under "For Future Action," meaning the board is scheduled to review them Wednesday without voting: a tax levy (Report 26-22), out-of-state travel for Owosso High School students to the FFA National Convention (Report 26-23), a Wilkinson Road property proposal (Report 26-24) and an obsolete material forklift (Report 26-25).
The meeting opens with building reports, including a student representative report from Mackenzie Hayes and a report from Venture. The superintendent and curriculum director are also scheduled to report under board correspondence. Two public participation periods are on the agenda, one before action items and one near the end.
The board is scheduled to end the night in closed session for a student discipline hearing.
The agenda notes the meeting "is a meeting of the Board of Education in public for the purpose of conducting the School District's business and is not to be considered a public community meeting," citing Board Policy 0166.
