Owosso at Corunna, Durand at Ovid-Elsie headline eight-game Friday

Every football program in Shiawassee County is on the field at 7 p.m. Friday, and two of the eight games are county-against-county. Owosso plays at Corunna, and Durand travels to Ovid-Elsie.

Owosso arrives at Corunna 2-1 in games we have logged; Corunna is 1-1. The Current reported earlier this month that Owosso edged Clio 8-7. Corunna hosted Ortonville Brandon on Sept. 18, a result the score desk still does not have confirmed.

In the other in-county game, Durand is 2-1 and Ovid-Elsie is 2-2 heading into a home date in Elsie. The Marauders opened the season at home Aug. 27 against Tri County Area on a schedule that gave them four home dates and three in-county matchups.

New Lothrop carries the best logged record in the county at 3-1 and hosts Mt. Morris. Chesaning is 1-2 and hosts Birch Run. Perry is 2-2 and hosts Bath. Morrice is 1-2 and hosts Fulton. Byron, logged at 0-2, hosts Mayville. Laingsburg, 0-4, is the only county team on a long road trip, at Pewamo-Westphalia.

One caveat on the numbers: these are records computed from games the desk has actually logged, and the desk's backlog is real. Byron's home opener against Mesick on Aug. 28 has never been confirmed, which means the Eagles' record is incomplete. None of the 10 county football games played Friday, Sept. 18 have confirmed finals either. Official school-reported records may differ from what is above.
