Chesaning at Ovid-Elsie soccer tops eight county games Tuesday

The pick of Tuesday night is Chesaning at Ovid-Elsie soccer, a 6 p.m. kickoff between two teams that have been trading even results all month. Chesaning is 2-2 in games we have logged; Ovid-Elsie is 3-2.

Perry and Laingsburg meet twice on the same campus. The soccer teams play at 5:30 p.m. and the volleyball teams follow at 7 p.m., both at Laingsburg. Perry carries a 3-2 logged record into each; Laingsburg is 0-4.

The third in-county meeting is on the volleyball court: Chesaning at New Lothrop, 6:45 p.m. New Lothrop is 4-1 in logged games, the best mark of any county program in our log.

The rest of the night sends county teams out of the area. Lakeville is at Durand for soccer at 5:30 p.m., with Durand 2-2. Ovid-Elsie also has a 5:30 p.m. soccer match at Birch Run. In volleyball, Durand is at Birch Run and Ovid-Elsie is at Montrose, both at 6:45 p.m.

As we reported Monday, the score desk still has no verified final from seven of the eight county football games played Friday, Sept. 25, including Owosso at Corunna and Durand at Ovid-Elsie, and the finals from Monday's eight-game soccer and volleyball slate are also outstanding. Byron's Aug. 28 football opener against Mesick has never been confirmed either.
