New Lothrop at Durand leads five county volleyball matches tonight

The one county-against-county match on Tuesday night's card is at Durand, where New Lothrop's volleyball team arrives at 6:45 p.m. carrying a 6-1 record in the games we have logged — the best mark among the six county teams playing tonight. Durand is 3-3.

Four other county gyms are busy. Atherton plays at Morrice at 6:30 p.m., with the Orioles at 3-3. Lakeville visits Byron at 6:45 p.m., where the Eagles are 1-4. Mt. Morris is at Chesaning at 6:45 p.m., with Chesaning at 3-3. And Birch Run plays at Ovid-Elsie at 7 p.m., where the Marauders are 3-4.

Records here come only from completed games the score desk has logged. Teams have played matches we have not received, so these are a floor, not a full accounting.

That gap is wider on the football side. The Current reported this weekend that four Oct. 9 county football games — New Lothrop at Chesaning, Perry at Laingsburg, Durand at Birch Run and Ovid-Elsie at Montrose — still have no confirmed final, along with Morrice's Oct. 10 game at Hillman and seven of the eight games played Oct. 2. The schools and the score desk are the sources for those, and we will post them as they come in.
