Corunna at Lake Fenton leads 4 county volleyball matches tonight
All four Shiawassee County volleyball teams playing Wednesday are on the road, starting with first serve at 6:15 p.m. in Lake Fenton and Goodrich.
Every county volleyball team playing tonight is packing the bus. Four matches are on the Wednesday, Oct. 14 schedule, and all four put a Shiawassee County school in somebody else's gym.
Corunna (2-3) opens the night at Lake Fenton at 6:15 p.m. The Current reported a 53-50 Corunna loss to Lake Fenton earlier this fall, so the Cavaliers know the address. Owosso (2-4) serves at the same time at Goodrich.
At 7 p.m., Saranac visits Laingsburg (2-4) — the only county team with a home floor tonight — and Perry (3-4) travels to Fowler. Perry carries the best logged record of the four.
Records here come only from completed games the desk has logged, which is why they are thinner than the calendar suggests. The score desk is still owed finals from five county volleyball matches played Tuesday night: New Lothrop at Durand, Atherton at Morrice, Lakeville at Byron, Mt. Morris at Chesaning and Birch Run at Ovid-Elsie. Those results, once they come in, will move several of tonight's numbers.
The football ledger is further behind. The Current still has no confirmed final for the four Oct. 9 county games — New Lothrop at Chesaning, Perry at Laingsburg, Durand at Birch Run and Ovid-Elsie at Montrose — or for Morrice's Oct. 10 trip to Hillman, or for seven of the eight games played Oct. 2. The schools and the score desk owe those.
What the dossier does not tell us: whether any of tonight's four matches are conference contests, and what it costs to get in the door. If you are driving to Fowler or Lake Fenton, bring cash and plan for the earlier 6:15 p.m. starts at two of the four sites.
