Centennial Woodworking breaks ground on Perry Township plant, showroom

Centennial Woodworking held a ceremonial groundbreaking on June 15 for a new manufacturing facility and showroom at 2720 W. Lansing Road in Perry Township, according to an announcement from the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership dated June 18.

The company currently operates out of Laingsburg. It specializes in kitchen and bath cabinetry, closet systems and custom millwork, the SEDP release said.

SEDP said the business had outgrown its existing facility after years of growth and is investing in an expanded space that will house updated machinery and broadened operations.

"This new facility represents an exciting new chapter for us — more space, better equipment, and the ability to serve our clients at an even higher level," Lynette Salyer, the company's production manager and designer, said in the release. "We are deeply rooted in this area, and we couldn't be more excited to grow right here at home."

The release said the new location is expected to provide greater visibility in the surrounding community and improved accessibility for clients throughout the region.

Justin Horvath, president and CEO of SEDP, called the company "a great example of the kind of homegrown business success we love to celebrate in our region" and said the organization looked forward to seeing the business operate in the new facility.

The release did not state a project cost, a construction timeline, a number of jobs, or whether any public incentives are involved.

What happens next

Construction is set to follow the June 15 groundbreaking at the W. Lansing Road site. SEDP did not announce an opening date for the manufacturing facility and showroom.
