Perry football beats Bath 28-3, county's only final at deadline

Perry's football team beat Bath 28-3 on Friday, Sept. 25, the only county final our score desk had confirmed at deadline.

That was it. Seven other county football games kicked off Friday night and none of them had a verified final when this was written: Owosso at Corunna, Birch Run at Chesaning, Durand at Ovid-Elsie, Mayville at Byron, Laingsburg at Pewamo-Westphalia, Mt. Morris at New Lothrop and Fulton at Morrice. We are not going to print a score we have not confirmed, so those games sit blank for now.

Two of them are in-county games, which is why they led our Friday preview. Owosso's trip to Corunna has been on the Trojans' schedule since the summer — The Shiawassee Current published the verified 2026 schedule in August showing the Sept. 25 road date at Corunna. Durand at Ovid-Elsie is the other all-Shiawassee matchup on the card.

The larger problem is the backlog behind Friday's games. As of this week the desk still has no confirmed final from any of the 10 county football games played Friday, Sept. 18, including Corunna's home game with Ortonville Brandon. Nor from the nine-game county slate of Tuesday, Sept. 22, the six games previewed Wednesday, Sept. 23, or the six on Thursday, Sept. 24. Byron's home football opener against Mesick, played Aug. 28, has never been confirmed at all, which leaves the Eagles' logged record incomplete nearly a month later.

Those results are owed by the schools and by the score desk. When they come in, we post them.
