Privacy, in plain English
The short version: we count readers, we don't track people. No ad trackers, no data brokers, nothing sold — ever.
What we collect
Reading the site: our own first-party counter records that a page was viewed and, anonymously, whether the same browser has visited before (a random ID stored in your browser, tied to nothing about you). We see which pages are read and roughly where visits come from (search, Facebook, direct). We use no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, and no advertising trackers of any kind.
The Morning Current newsletter: your email address, which you give us on purpose. It's stored with our newsletter provider (Beehiiv), used only to send you the newsletter and breaking-news emails, and never sold, rented, or shared. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
News tips: if you text, call, or email the newsroom, we keep the correspondence like any newsroom does. Source confidentiality is taken seriously.
What we don't do
- No selling or sharing of personal data with advertisers or brokers — ever.
- No third-party ad networks following you around the internet.
- No login, no account, no paywall — you can read everything anonymously.
Facebook & social
Our Facebook page and its posts are managed by our own publishing tools. Interacting with us on Facebook is governed by Meta's own terms; we receive only the aggregate statistics any page owner sees.
Data deletion & questions
Want your email removed? Use the unsubscribe link, or write to [email protected] and we'll delete it. Same address for any privacy question — a person reads it. You can also text (989) 262-9582.
