Morrice hosts Bentley; Byron, Ovid-Elsie on the road Thursday
Three county volleyball matches Thursday night, starting with Ovid-Elsie at Calvary Baptist Academy at 5 p.m., and the only home gym in use is Morrice's at 6:30.
If you want to watch county volleyball in person Thursday night, there is one gym to drive to: Morrice hosts Bentley at 6:30 p.m. The Orioles are 3-4 in the games our score desk has logged.
The night actually starts earlier and farther away. Ovid-Elsie, 4-4, plays at Calvary Baptist Academy at 5 p.m. Byron, 1-5, is at Mt. Morris at 6:45 p.m.
Those records come only from completed games the desk has confirmed, and the desk is still short a few. Finals from the county volleyball slates of Oct. 13 and Oct. 14 have not come back, and neither have the finals from the four matches we previewed for Monday night, Oct. 20, including Chesaning at Byron. Until schools or the score desk return them, the won-lost lines above are the best verified picture we have.
Football has gaps too. The desk is still owed finals from the Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 games, plus three from Friday, Oct. 16 — Laingsburg at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, New Lothrop at LakeVille Memorial and Montabella at Morrice. We post them as they are confirmed, not before.
One more date worth circling: Byron's 8-player football team closes its season Friday — Oct. 23 — at Marlette, the last line on the verified nine-game schedule The Current published in August.
Tune into our live scoreboard for live scores and updates all game long. Every county score updates live at shiawassee.news/scoreboard, and live scores appear right on the shiawassee.news homepage while games are going. It is free, there is no app and there is no paywall.
What happens next: the three matches finish Thursday night, and we will log the finals as schools report them. If you have a confirmed final from any county game — including the ones still outstanding from Oct. 9, Oct. 10, Oct. 13, Oct. 14, Oct. 16 and Oct. 20 — the score desk wants it.
