Shiawassee County Fair opens in Corunna today, runs through Aug. 15

The Shiawassee County Fair opens today in Corunna and runs through Saturday, Aug. 15, according to the schedule posted on the fair's website. The fairgrounds are at 2900 Hibbard Road.
The website's featured schedule lists Draft Horse Day on Monday, Aug. 10, and a free Youth Social on Tuesday, Aug. 11. TK Pro Rodeo is listed for both Wednesday, Aug. 12, and Thursday, Aug. 13.
The final two days carry the fair's motorsports events. The TNT Demolition Derby and Figure 8 is set for Friday, Aug. 14, and the TTPA Modified Truck & Tractor Pull with a semi-truck pull is listed for Saturday, Aug. 15. The site also lists the Shiawassee County Fair Truck Show on Aug. 8, the day before the fair opened.
Auction buyers can pre-register
The fair says buyer pre-registration for the livestock auction is open through Crowe Auctions, either by QR code on the site or at crauctions.com. Buyers who register online pick up their buyer number on site the day of the auction.
On-site registration is also available Thursday, Aug. 13, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 14, starting at 8:30 a.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 15, starting at 8:30 a.m.
About the grounds
The fair describes its property as 127 acres of rolling hills with a climate-controlled indoor arena and year-round event use. Its history timeline credits a 1988 community purchase of the 127 acres with opening the current fairgrounds, and the fair bills itself as carrying on more than 175 years of tradition. The fair's stated mission is to showcase youth talent through education, exhibits and competition in livestock and non-livestock projects.

What happens next
After the fair closes Aug. 15, the fairgrounds calendar lists a Friends of Pat's Place Concert and a Buckskin Horse Show on Aug. 22, a C.M.H.A. horse show on Aug. 28 and the Corunna Public Schools Early Bird Race on Sept. 1.
