Corunna council meets Monday in Community Center lower level

If you plan to sit in on Corunna's next council meeting, go to the Community Center on Emma Drive — not City Hall. The council's regular meeting is set for Monday, Sept. 21, in person in the lower level of the Corunna Community Center, according to Corunna City Manager Joe Sawyer, who flagged the location in an email distributing the council packet to the council, the mayor and The Current.

A pre-council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., Sawyer said. The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m.

This is the council's first regular meeting since it scrapped one. The Current reported in August that the council canceled its 7 p.m. Sept. 8 meeting because of the Labor Day weekend.

Sawyer said the complete packet, an OCR'd PDF, has been posted to the city's Dropbox, and that an agenda was attached to the notice as a separate document. The Current has not yet reviewed either, so what the council will take up Monday is not established here. When the desk checked the city's own website and its agendas-and-minutes page on Sept. 17, both returned an HTTP 403 error to the public.

One item worth watching: The Current reported on Sept. 16 that the county board was told a proposed VA garage in Corunna is waiting on city approval. Whether that lands on Monday's agenda is not known.

What happens next: the pre-council session convenes at 6:30 p.m. Monday and the regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the Community Center's lower level. The desk has asked the city what is on the agenda, including the VA garage, and will report what the council decides.
