Corunna: 10 new homes break ground at Crestview Heights
The Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership said officials and partners marked the groundbreaking of 10 single-family homes on July 20, with two reserved for households earning up to 120% of Area Median Income.
Community leaders, local officials and development partners gathered July 20, 2026, at Crestview Heights in Corunna for the groundbreaking of 10 new single-family homes in the neighborhood, according to a news release from the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership dated July 21.
The release described the project as a public-private partnership involving the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership, Allen Edwin Homes, the City of Corunna, the Shiawassee County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and Shiawassee County. The partnership said the group is working to address gaps in the local housing supply and create new pathways to homeownership for area residents. The release identified Allen Edwin Homes as Michigan's largest homebuilder.
Two of the 10 homes will be reserved for households earning up to 120% of the Area Median Income, the release said. The partnership described that provision as ensuring working professionals have access to homeownership in the communities they serve.
"This project represents an investment in local families and the future of our community," Justin Horvath, president and CEO of the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership, said in the release. "By bringing together public and private partners around a shared vision, we're not just building homes — we're building opportunity and strengthening the foundation of Corunna and Shiawassee County for years to come."
Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners Chair Greg Brodeur said in the release that housing is a critical need in the community and that he is proud of the work done to support projects like the Corunna development.
Brian Farkas of Allen Edwin Homes said in the release that the company is excited to be building in Shiawassee County and that the community has been supportive of the project. "Through their support we will be committed to building high quality homes for the community," Farkas said.
The release did not list a construction cost, a completion date, home prices or the number of lots remaining at Crestview Heights.

The partnership directed people interested in learning more about the homes to the Allen Edwin Homes website. The release did not state a timeline for when the 10 homes will be finished or when the two income-restricted units will be offered.
