Consumers Energy lineman dies after electrocution in Henderson, Rush Township

A 48-year-old journeyman line worker for Consumers Energy was electrocuted Aug. 13 while performing overhead electrical work in the 100 block of Henderson Road in Henderson, an unincorporated community in Shiawassee County's Rush Township, according to Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office statements reported by ABC12.

The sheriff's office said the worker, who was from Haslett, was handling two wires and may have touched them together. He was transported to Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, where he died, according to the sheriff's office as reported by ABC12 and WILX.

The sheriff's office had not released the worker's name in the cited reports.

Consumers Energy confirmed the death of its employee. "All of us at Consumers Energy are saddened by the loss of our coworker while on the job," the utility said in a statement carried by WILX and ABC12.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration told ABC12 that this was the 30th worker death reported to the agency this year. A MIOSHA investigation is standard for workplace fatalities.
