Chesaning village council approves $207,962.86 in bills at nine-minute meeting
The July 21 meeting ran from 7:30 p.m. to 7:39 p.m. with no action items, and the police chief reported a 63% clearance rate.
The Chesaning Village Council approved a consent agenda that included $207,962.86 in accounts payable at its July 21 meeting, according to minutes submitted by Village Clerk Tina Powell.
The motion to approve the consent agenda came from Councilmember Navarre and was supported by Councilmember Larner. The minutes record that the motion carried, without listing individual votes. The consent agenda also included approval of the council's July 7 meeting minutes. The minutes list no items received and filed.
President Hoover called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Village of Chesaning Council Chambers. Roll call showed Danek, Larner, Navarre, Bueche, Wenzel, Hoover, Chludil, Powell and Ebenhoeh present, with no members absent. Larner moved to approve the agenda, supported by Navarre; that motion also carried, per the minutes.
The minutes list no unfinished business, no items for introduction or discussion, and no items for action. There were no public statements.
Committee and staff reports
Most committees reported no meeting, including Infrastructure, Finance and Administration, Public Safety, the DDA, the Chamber of Commerce board, the Planning Commission, the Airport committee and the Task Force.
The Fire Board reported eight runs since the last meeting and 109 runs for the year. Landing zone training was held July 12 and 13, and the next training, on agriculture scenarios, was set for Aug. 2 and 3. A blood drive was scheduled for the 6th and 7th, and the next Fire Board meeting was set for Aug. 12 at 6 p.m.
The Parks Committee reported that it met and discussed a possible Eagle Scout project to install a double gate and cement pad at the dog park. Under councilmember statements, Larner asked whether anyone had heard of developments in the empty businesses in town, the minutes state.
In the police chief's report, the department said it is remaining at a 63% clearance rate and is thinning out the property room. The report states the department has been able to trade old guns for credit toward a new rifle and ammunition.

Wenzel moved to adjourn, supported by Bueche, and the motion carried. President Hoover adjourned the meeting at 7:39 p.m. The next Fire Board meeting was listed for Aug. 12 at 6 p.m., and Fire Board agriculture-scenario training was set for Aug. 2 and 3.
