Shiawassee County board takes up $113,600 records system at Aug. 12 meeting
The county commissioners' agenda for the 5 p.m. meeting lists three spending items, a new Vital Records Clerk position and a $54,040 LACASA contract.

The Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners meets at 5 p.m. today, Aug. 12, with three spending items and two staffing requests on its agenda, according to the agenda posted by the county.
The largest item comes from the Economic and Physical Development Committee, chaired by Commissioner Howard. The agenda asks the board to approve a computer system, software license and associated sales and contract agreement with Fidlar Technologies "not to exceed $113,600," and to authorize the board chair to execute the agreement. The agenda does not list which county office would use the system.
The Public Safety and Courts Committee, chaired by Commissioner Haley, brought forward a contract with LACASA in an amount not to exceed $54,040. The agenda states the cost would be paid from the Child Care Fund and asks the board to authorize the chair to sign the agreement.
The Finance and Administration Committee, chaired by Commissioner Garber, listed three items: adding one Vital Records Clerk at a grade 3; refilling a part-time Youth Center position at not more than 20 hours a week; and accepting a bid from Epoxy Guys for $8,607.25 to resurface the Animal Shelter Building.
The board is also scheduled to approve the minutes of its July 15, 2026 meeting, along with minutes from the Aug. 10 Economic and Physical Development Committee meeting, the Aug. 10 Finance and Administration Committee meeting and the Aug. 11 Public Safety and Courts Committee meeting.
Chairman Brodeur is listed to call the meeting to order, with the invocation by Commissioner Haley. The agenda includes reports from the chairperson and from County Administrator Dr. Boggs, and two public comment periods — one near the start of the meeting and one before adjournment — each limited to three minutes per speaker.
