Caledonia Township board approves $243,244.70 in bills, Martin Road culvert

The Caledonia Charter Township Board of Trustees approved $243,244.70 in payroll and bills on unanimous roll-call votes at its June 15 regular meeting, according to the township's draft synopsis of the meeting.

The motion by Trustee Hagadon, supported by Trustee Spicer, covered the May 2026 payroll and the June 2026 accounts payable: payroll checks 27227-27241 totaling $16,517.58; general fund invoices of $53,617.12 per the list attached to the agenda; and ambulance check No. 1004 in the amount of $173,110.00. Voting aye were Supervisor Holek, Clerk Brady, Treasurer Levesque and Trustees Hagadon, Krhovsky, Ochodnicky and Spicer, the synopsis states.

The board also approved a new culvert at the Martin Road dead end east of Kerby Road on a motion by Trustee Hagadon, supported by Trustee Krhovsky. The synopsis lists a 48-inch by 60-foot culvert at $62.45 per foot, at a cost not to exceed $3,747.00. That vote was also 7-0, with Holek, Brady, Levesque, Hagadon, Krhovsky, Ochodnicky and Spicer voting aye.

Two items were tabled. On a motion by Trustee Ochodnicky, supported by Trustee Hagadon, the board tabled proposed pay increases for the code enforcement and building department "for further evaluation," according to the synopsis. On a second Ochodnicky-Hagadon motion, the board tabled bids for the roof until the next regular board meeting. Both motions carried.

The board discussed the need to review Zoning Board of Appeals appointments and took no action, the synopsis states.

On culvert projects, the board was informed that the State Road culvert is scheduled for August and that Hintz Road was repaired, allowing the township to null that contract, according to the synopsis. The board also discussed transportation ballot language and was told the issue had been discussed with the township attorney; no action was taken.

Supervisor Holek called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. All seven board members were present. County Commissioner Holzhausen appeared under communications. Chris Easlick of CLE Construction and Jane and Donald Hunt were listed under the call to the public. The board approved the agenda and the minutes of the May 18, 2026, regular meeting.

The roof bids return to the board at its next regular meeting, and the code enforcement and building department pay increases remain tabled pending further evaluation, according to the synopsis. The synopsis is marked "draft" and is subject to board approval.
