Caledonia Township board awards $20,000 roofing bid, approves $290,917.63 in bills

The Caledonia Charter Township Board of Trustees awarded a roofing contract to Cleveland Contracting at a cost of $20,000 on a 6-0 roll call vote at its regular meeting July 20, according to the township's draft synopsis of the meeting.

Trustee Krhovsky moved to award the bid and Trustee Spicer supported it. The synopsis records ayes from Supervisor Holek, Clerk Brady, Trustee Hagadon, Trustee Krhovsky, Trustee Ochodnicky and Trustee Spicer. Treasurer Levesque was absent from the meeting, which Holek called to order at 7 p.m.

The board also approved the June 2026 payroll and July 2026 accounts payable on a 6-0 roll call vote, with the same six members voting aye. The synopsis lists payroll checks 27242-27253 totaling $14,284.83; General Fund checks 20029-20042 totaling $219,003.74; a Utility Fund check for $18,360; and a Transportation Fund check for $39,269.06, for a grand total of $290,917.63. The synopsis states that check number 20031 "was held for further investigation."

Code enforcement payment

Holek presented the board with a statement from Jim Delaney documenting code enforcement properties he handled between May 4, 2026, and June 30, 2026, according to the synopsis. Trustee Spicer moved, supported by Trustee Hagadon, to pay Delaney for 33 code enforcements at $100 each for a total of $3,300. The motion carried 6-0 on a roll call vote. The synopsis describes the pay period in that motion as "May 4, 2026, to June 30, 2025."

On the vacant building administrator position, Holek told the board she had not received an answer from Gary Palmer and that Linda Cordier and Jim Delaney were handling day-to-day business, the synopsis says.

Other business

Trustee Spicer reported the township website is almost ready except for the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals pages, and that work continues on a Facebook page without comment capability. Holek reported that she received an email describing project delays on the township sidewalk project involving right of way, consents to grade and utility relocations. The township attorney is still working on updating township ordinances, according to the synopsis.

The board approved the agenda as presented and the minutes of its June 15, 2026, regular meeting, both on motions by Trustee Hagadon supported by Trustee Spicer. There were no communications from the county commissioner, no new business, and no comment at either call to the public. Trustee Krhovsky moved to adjourn, supported by Trustee Hagadon, at 8:20 p.m.

What happens next

The synopsis states the township will seek bids for siding for the township hall. On the sidewalk project, the synopsis says officials are hoping to have it in an October letting for 2027 construction. The document is labeled a draft synopsis, which would come before the board for approval at a future meeting.
