Update: M-52 near Perry closes for one hour Sept. 25 — not through the week

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story reported M-52 closed in both directions through Sept. 25, based on the state's Mi Drive map listing, which shows only an end date. MDOT's detailed closure record, which The Current has since obtained, shows the closure lasts one hour on Sept. 25. The story below is corrected — M-52 is open, and no continuous closure is scheduled.

M-52 between Bath Road and West Britton Road near Perry will be closed to through traffic in both directions for one hour on Friday, Sept. 25 — from 6:00 to 7:01 PM — according to the Michigan Department of Transportation's detailed closure records.

MDOT lists the hour as a “total closure” of both the northbound and southbound sides of the highway, in records updated Sept. 17. The listing does not state the reason for the closure.

The error was ours. MDOT's Mi Drive record lists both a start and an end — 6:00 PM and 7:01 PM on Sept. 25 — and the map's detail view shows both. The Current's automated monitoring summarized the listing using only the end date, and the story was written from that truncated summary. We have corrected the monitoring so closure summaries always carry the full start-to-end window. We are grateful to the readers who flagged it, twice.

Drivers using M-52 through the southern end of the county can expect normal travel until Friday evening Sept. 25, when through traffic between Bath and West Britton roads should plan one hour around the closure.
