Corunna school board agenda set budgets, $1M borrowing vote June 15

The Corunna Public Schools Board of Education met June 15 at 6 p.m. for a regular meeting, and its posted agenda placed the district's finances at the center of the night's business.

Under the financial report, the agenda listed four items requiring full board action. The first was approval of the 2025-2026 final budgets as presented. The second was a truth-in-taxation resolution. The third was approval of the 2026-2027 budgets. The fourth was a resolution for state aid borrowing not to exceed $1,000,000 for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The agenda also carried the superintendent's personnel recommendations, all marked as needing full board action. Those included acknowledging the resignations of Jeff Sawyer as a student support specialist at Corunna High School, Hannah Conklin as a paraprofessional at Corunna Middle School, and Missy Boilore as an NHS co-advisor.

The meeting also included Cavalier Recognition for a volunteer of the month and an employee of the month, a student report, a June curriculum update listed for discussion only, an expenditure report, staff reports and a bond update under informational items. The consent agenda covered minutes of the May 18, 2026, regular meeting and consideration of bills and accounts.

The agenda invited public comment, noting the board reserves the right to limit time on a specific topic, usually three minutes per person and 30 minutes total, and asking speakers to submit a Public Communication Form to the recording secretary before speaking.
