Owosso Nationals is a two-night finale Sept. 25-26 in Ovid
The speedway has posted the missing Day 1 page — Late Model Sportsman, Street Stocks, Trucks, Sport Compact and Mini Wedges on Friday, Sept. 25, ahead of the CRA card the next night.
If you were trying to plan the last race weekend of the year at Owosso Speedway, you now have both halves of it. the track in Ovid has posted an event page for Friday, Sept. 25 — Owosso Nationals Day 1 — with Late Model Sportsman, Street Stocks, the Truck Series, Sport Compact and Mini Wedges on the card. That makes the Nationals a two-night weekend, Sept. 25 and 26, at 7204 W. M-21.
The Current reported earlier on Aug. 26 that the track's Day 2 listing for Sept. 26 put Champion Racing Association cars on track alongside Pure Stock, Modified and Outlaw Super Late Model classes — but that the page was labeled "Day 2" with no matching Day 1 anywhere on the schedule. That gap is now filled. The Day 1 page also says the program will be available on Track TV.
What the track still has not published for either night is the practical part: no pit or grandstand gate times, no green flag time, no lap counts, no purse and no ticket prices appear on the Sept. 25 listing. There is no entry list. Both Nationals pages point to MyRacePass for "full event information."
The two Nationals nights cap a closing stretch that is now filled in on the track's calendar. Championship Night 2 falls on Saturday, Sept. 12, with Street Stocks and Sport Compact among the classes listed. Destruction "O"verload runs Saturday, Sept. 19. Test-and-tune sessions are scheduled for Sept. 9, Sept. 16 and Sept. 23, each with pits open at 3 p.m. and open practice on track from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The Sept. 12 date answers a question this desk has been carrying: when we previewed Championship Night 1 for Aug. 29 — with points titles on the line in Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Trucks and the wedge/dwarf class, gates at 4 p.m. and racing at 6 — the track had not said when the second championship night would be run.
The classes on the Sept. 25 card are the track's weekly divisions, which is the difference between the two nights: Friday belongs to the regulars, and Saturday brings in a CRA touring field. The track has still not said which CRA series that is, or whether Sept. 26 counts for series points.
What happens next
The desk is asking Owosso Speedway for gate and green flag times, lap counts, purses and admission prices for both Nationals nights, and for the entry list once the CRA field is set. We are also still owed results from the Aug. 22 Ron Hauser Memorial and from Tuesday night's ASA STARS National Tour Michigan 300, which drew Keelan Harvick, son of NASCAR Cup champion Kevin Harvick, as its first announced entry.
