Owosso Speedway moves Destruction Overload to Oct. 3 in Ovid

Owosso Speedway's Destruction Overload show has a new date. The track's event page now lists it for Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7204 W. M-21 in Ovid, with the pits opening at 2 p.m., hot laps at 4 p.m. and racing starting at 6 p.m.

The page explains the move in one line: "rescheduled from the Sept 19th rainout date." That is the part worth reading twice. Sept. 19 is still three days away. Either the track has moved the show early and written the note in advance, or the page is ahead of itself. The site gives no other explanation, and it is the only schedule information the track has published for the event.

The Current reported Aug. 28 that the Sept. 19 Destruction Overload was on the calendar with no class list, no start times and no ticket prices, and that the event page's text actually described a Sept. 16 open practice instead. The Oct. 3 page fixes the times. It still lists the classes only as "Destruction Overload" and still carries no prices.

What is in the show came from a different page on the track's own site. As we reported Sept. 11, a page labeled "Timing and Scoring Testing" spelled out the Destruction Overload lineup, including a school bus figure 8 and a motorhome race, and showed a six-car feature won by Gavin Anspach of Lansing.

The Oct. 3 date also sits after the track's two-night Owosso Nationals finale on Sept. 25 and 26, which the speedway has listed as Late Model Sportsman, Street Stocks, Trucks, Sport Compact and Mini Wedges on Friday and a Champion Racing Association card on Saturday.

What happens next: the track has not said whether anything will run on Sept. 19, and it has not posted general admission or pit pass prices for Oct. 3. The speedway lists a phone number of (989) 461-7223 and an email of [email protected] for event questions.
