Owosso Speedway's Destruction "O"verload set for Sept. 19 in Ovid
The track has the date on its calendar, but its event page carries no class list, no start times and no ticket prices — and the text on the page describes a Sept. 16 open practice instead.
Owosso Speedway has a date on the calendar for Destruction "O"verload — Saturday, Sept. 19, at the track at 7204 W. M-21 in Ovid. What it does not have, at least not yet, is the information a family needs to plan around it: no gate time, no green flag, no ticket price and no list of which classes are running.
The track's event page for the night lists "No classes available" and no admission prices. The event information on the page describes a different date entirely — a test-and-tune session on Wednesday, Sept. 16, with the pits opening at 3 p.m. and open practice on track from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
That is the second time this month the desk has run into a thin Owosso Speedway listing. The Current reported Aug. 26 that the track's page for Day 2 of the Owosso Nationals on Sept. 26 named the Champion Racing Association cars plus Pure Stock, Modified and Outlaw Super Late Model classes, but carried no times, no prices and no entry list. Ticket and pit pass prices for Saturday's Championship Night 1 card are also still an open question on this desk.
The rest of the track's fall calendar is better documented. Championship Night 1 runs Saturday, Aug. 29, with gates at 4 p.m. and racing at 6, and points titles on the line in Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Trucks and the wedge/dwarf class. Championship Night 2 on Sept. 12 decides the street stock, sport compact, mini wedge and modified championships, with pits open at 11 a.m. and racing at 6 p.m. The season closes with the two-night Owosso Nationals on Sept. 25 and 26.
Destruction "O"verload sits between those championship nights and the Nationals. Until the track fills in its page, the name is the only description of the night that exists in writing.

What happens next: the speedway typically posts times, prices and a class list on the individual event page as a race night gets closer, as it did for the Aug. 29 and Sept. 12 championship cards. The Current will update this story when the Sept. 19 page carries gate times, admission prices and the divisions scheduled to race, and has those questions in with the track.
