Owosso Speedway sets Ron Hauser Memorial card Aug. 22 in Ovid
The Ovid track's tentative schedule puts a 100-lap Outlaw Super Late Model feature at the center of Saturday's program, with gates open at 4 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
Owosso Speedway has released a tentative schedule for the Ron Hauser Memorial on Saturday, Aug. 22, according to a release posted by the track. The speedway is at 7204 W. M-21 in Ovid.
Front gates open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 6 p.m., the release said. The pit gate opens at 11 a.m., when fuel and tire sales begin and Sport Compact tech starts, moving pit stall to pit stall.
The feature lineup lists a 40-lap Late Model Sportsman feature, a 100-lap Outlaw Super Late Model feature, a 25-lap Sport Compact A feature and a 15-lap Sport Compact B feature. Late Model Sportsman and Sport Compact heats run as required starting at 6 p.m., with a 15-minute intermission.
Practice and qualifying fill the afternoon. Optional Outlaw Super tech begins at 12:30 p.m., Late Model Sportsman practice at 1 p.m. with no required tech, Sport Compact practice and qualifying at 1:30 p.m., and Outlaw Super Late Model practice from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Tire impound release is set for 2 p.m. Outlaw Super Late Model tech begins at 3:15 p.m. by chip draw, and Outlaw Super Late Model qualifying is set for 4:30 p.m.
Drivers meetings are scheduled at the tech barn — Super Late Models at 4 p.m., Late Model Sportsman and Sport Compact at 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies are at 5:45 p.m.
The track noted two policy items in the release. Outlaw Super Late Model teams may purchase and place tires in impound any day before the event to save time on race day. Track policy changed in early July to allow all types of race teams to park early — the day before, overnight or first thing in the morning — with the gate open and security on site. The release also told Sport Compact teams their tech process for this event has changed and asked them to read the schedule.
Tickets are available at the front gate when it opens at 4 p.m. or online at showpass.com/o/owosso-speedway. The release lists RACEceiver at 454.00 and pit radio at 89.9 FM.
