Corunna football beats Clio 30-14; six county finals still out

Corunna beat Clio 30-14 in football Friday, the only county result confirmed by our score desk at deadline.

The 16-point margin is the whole of what we logged. We record scores, not drives, so nothing here should be read as how the game was played.

Six other Shiawassee County football games were still unfinished or unreported when this was published: Owosso at Lake Fenton, Chesaning at Durand, Perry at Pewamo-Westphalia, Ovid-Elsie at LakeVille Memorial, Laingsburg at Fowler and New Lothrop at Montrose. No score is available for any of them, and we will not publish one until the desk confirms it.

The Chesaning-at-Durand game was the in-county matchup on Friday's slate, one of seven county games The Current previewed earlier this week. Corunna's night was a non-county road test; The Current's verified 2026 schedule, published Aug. 10, has the Cavaliers playing eight games with five home dates and in-county meetings still ahead, including Owosso on Sept. 25.

One county football result remains missing going back to opening weekend. The Current has asked since Aug. 28 for the final from Byron's home opener against Mesick, and it has never been confirmed. That leaves Byron the only county football program without a logged record this season. Byron High School and the score desk owe the final.

The desk is also still owed finals from midweek: Laingsburg at Perry soccer, Durand soccer at Lakeville and Beecher at Morrice volleyball from Thursday, plus five games from Wednesday — Saranac at Perry volleyball, Corunna volleyball at Clio, Lake Fenton at Owosso volleyball, Laingsburg volleyball at Portland St. Patrick and Birch Run at Ovid-Elsie soccer.
