Ovid-Elsie volleyball hosts a quad in Elsie; 8 county games tonight

The busiest gym in the county tonight is Ovid-Elsie's. The Marauders' volleyball team hosts three visitors on the same 5 p.m. start — Freeland, Valley Lutheran and Powers Catholic — in Elsie, according to the county scoreboard. Ovid-Elsie is 0-1 in games we have logged.

It is the first of eight county games on the Wednesday, Sept. 2 schedule, and there is no county-vs-county matchup among them.

On the pitch, Owosso has the county's only home game: Holly at Owosso, 6:30 p.m. Corunna travels the same hour to Lake Fenton. Both programs are 0-1 in our logged results.

Two more volleyball matches start at 6:15 p.m. — Goodrich at Corunna, and Owosso at Brandon — and Laingsburg hosts Pewamo-Westphalia at 7 p.m. Every county team on tonight's card is listed at 0-1, though those marks reflect only the games the desk has been able to confirm and log.

That caveat matters more than usual right now. The score backlog from opening week is running into a second week: the desk still has no confirmed finals for Mesick at Byron football or Ovid-Elsie at Lowell soccer from Aug. 28, Potterville at Perry soccer and Durand at Swartz Creek soccer from Aug. 27, or Byron at Perry volleyball from Aug. 29. Monday's three games — Holly at Corunna soccer, Owosso at Swartz Creek soccer and Laingsburg volleyball at Portland — and all four games from Tuesday night are also still owed.
