New Lothrop 29, Durand 14; Perry wins 38-6 at Detroit Osborn

New Lothrop beat Durand 29-14 on Thursday night in the only county-vs-county game on a 14-game schedule. Both teams came in at 1-0, as The Current reported in Thursday's preview.

Perry won 38-6 at Detroit Osborn, the widest margin among the three finals our score desk was able to confirm. Where Detroit Osborn plays its home games is still one of the desk's open questions: we listed the game Thursday without a site, and the schools have not supplied one.

Corunna lost 32-13 at home to Fowlerville in the third confirmed final.

Eleven of Thursday's 14 games had no confirmed result at our deadline. In football, that includes Owosso at Flint Hamady, LakeVille Memorial at Chesaning, Ovid-Elsie at Birch Run, Byron at Burton Bentley, Laingsburg at Kelloggsville and Merrill at Morrice. In volleyball, Lake Fenton at New Lothrop, Chesaning at Durand and Byron at Ovid-Elsie are outstanding. In soccer, Durand at More Academy and Owosso at Stockbridge are outstanding.

Byron's result matters twice over. The Eagles were the only county football program the desk carried without a record on Thursday, because the Aug. 28 home opener against Mesick was never confirmed to us. Byron High School and the score desk still owe that final.

The desk is also still waiting on finals from the eight county games played Wednesday, Sept. 2 — including the volleyball quad Ovid-Elsie hosted in Elsie — and from games played Sept. 1 and Aug. 31. Every one of those is logged as an open thread until a school or the score desk confirms it.

What happens next: scores update at the live county scoreboard through the night and into Friday as schools report them. We will publish confirmed finals as they arrive and will not report a score until the score desk verifies it.
