Morrice football at Portland St. Patrick leads 2 county games tonight

Saturday is a short day on the county sports calendar — two games, both on the road. Morrice football, 1-1 on the season, plays at Portland St. Patrick with a 7 p.m. kickoff. That is the night's headline matchup.

Morrice plays 8-player football, and The Current published the Orioles' verified nine-game schedule in August. It opened Aug. 27 at Brown City and includes five home dates. Tonight is not one of them.

Earlier in the day, Laingsburg soccer travels to Swartz Creek for a 3:15 p.m. start. The Wolfpack are 0-3 by the games this desk has logged.

No other county teams are scheduled Saturday.

There is still a backlog from Friday night. As of deadline Friday, the only county football final confirmed here was Corunna 30, Clio 14. Six results remain unreported: Owosso at Lake Fenton, Chesaning at Durand, Perry at Pewamo-Westphalia, Ovid-Elsie at LakeVille Memorial, Laingsburg at Fowler and New Lothrop at Montrose.
