Owosso at Corunna volleyball leads 5 county games tonight

The one game tonight that puts two Shiawassee County schools across the net from each other is at Corunna, where Owosso volleyball visits for a 6:15 p.m. first serve. Both teams come in at 1-1 in games this desk has logged.

Four other county teams play elsewhere. Durand soccer, 2-1, opens the night early at Stockbridge with a 5:30 p.m. kickoff. Owosso soccer, 1-1, is at Clio at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., Fowler visits Laingsburg for volleyball, with Laingsburg still looking for its first logged win at 0-3, and Perry volleyball, 2-1, travels to Dansville.

That is five games in all — one at home in the county, four on the road.

Records here come only from completed games this desk has confirmed, and that is a shorter list than it should be. The Current still has no final from any of the six county games played Monday, Sept. 14, including Clio at Owosso volleyball and Corunna volleyball at Brandon, and none from the seven games played Tuesday, Sept. 15, including the two in-county matchups, Durand at Chesaning soccer and Durand at Ovid-Elsie volleyball.

The football backlog is older. Four Sept. 11 finals — Perry at Pewamo-Westphalia, Ovid-Elsie at LakeVille Memorial, Laingsburg at Fowler and New Lothrop at Montrose — remain unconfirmed five days on, as does Morrice at Portland St. Patrick from Sept. 12. Byron's Aug. 28 home opener against Mesick has never been confirmed at all, which leaves the Eagles without a logged football record despite a reported 36-8 loss to Deckerville.
