New Lothrop volleyball at Ovid-Elsie leads 8 county games tonight
Eight Shiawassee County soccer and volleyball games are scheduled Thursday, Sept. 17, with a three-way volleyball night in Elsie and Durand home at 6:45 p.m.
The only county-against-county meeting on Thursday's schedule is in Elsie, where New Lothrop's volleyball team plays at Ovid-Elsie at 5 p.m. Both are on the floor twice: the scoreboard also lists Clio at New Lothrop and Clio at Ovid-Elsie, all three matches at 5 p.m.
New Lothrop comes in 2-1 from the games we have logged. Ovid-Elsie is 1-2.
Durand has the latest start and the only home game after dark: Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy visits at 6:45 p.m. The Railroaders are 2-1. Morrice travels to Bentley at 6:30 p.m. at 1-1.
On the soccer pitch, Chesaning opens the night at 5 p.m. at Lakeville, carrying a 1-1 record. Perry plays at Bath at 5:30 p.m. at 2-1. Laingsburg is at Lansing Christian at the same time, still looking for a first win at 0-3.
Records here are computed only from completed games this desk has logged, so they can run behind a team's official mark until finals come in. That gap is a live problem on the football side: The Current reported in August that Byron opened its 8-player season at home against Mesick on Aug. 28, and nearly three weeks later that final has still never been confirmed, leaving the Eagles without a record on our board.
